We have begun a new contract with Cab Line UK today and drivers are required the rules below which we have agreed on your behalf.

If you feel you can’t follow these rules, then please let us know via SMS 07400247393 and we will remove your capability to do these jobs.

Driver Information Policy for partner suppliers operating services for or on behalf of Cabline UK

Please read the information in this document carefully and ensure that you comply fully with the instructions and specifications within.

 Please issue copies to all drivers who work on Cabline UK work and ensure they fully understand their responsibilities.

 Our Objective is:

 You and your vehicle have been hired to operate a service on behalf of Cabline UK. Outlined below are some of the main areas where our driver standards apply. Above all be punctual, polite, professional and safe.

 Smart Appearance

All drivers are asked to take pride in and care of their appearance. Your smart, well groomed appearance gives comfort and reassurance to our customers that they are dealing with a professional driver and a professional company. Where a corporate uniform is issued it must be worn, if not we have a minimum dress code of smart shoes, trousers and collared shirt. Under no circumstances should jeans, shorts, T-shirts or trainers be worn.

Vehicle Appearance / Presentation
Your vehicle should be free of litter and cleanly presented both inside and out. A check of vehicle cleanliness should be made prior to passenger pick up.

Fare Taking

Under no circumstances are you to collect fares from customers whilst operating on behalf of Cabline UK. All Cabline UK work is carried out on account. Cabline UK will pay the operator of the services upon receipt of an invoice as per our terms and conditions. Under any circumstances DO NOT ASK YOUR PASSENGER FOR CASH.

Smoking / Drinking / Eating

Drivers are not permitted to smoke within the vehicle or in view of the customer whilst on hire to Cabline UK at anytime.

Whilst in control of a vehicle drivers are not permitted to eat, drink or undertake any activity that will prevent them from controlling the vehicle effectively.

Customer Identification, Routes and journey

Cabline UK will issue a customer name or a customer reference with each booking. It is important that the driver is issued with this information and confirms this with the customer upon pick up. If there is any confusion or uncertainty the driver must ensure this is checked out with the Cabline UK Control Centre on 01159 225229.

Likewise should there be any problems or uncertainty regarding the route or destination, clarification should be sought from a Cabline UK advisor.

Mobile Phones

The use of hand held mobile phones or any electrical device (including equipment such as PDA’s, tablets and pagers etc is prohibited at all times whilst driving. If you need to make calls using a mobile phone the vehicle must be stationary and parked in a safe place with the gear selector in neutral and with the hand or parking brake applied. Mobile phones must only be used for genuine emergencies, and you should pull the vehicle over to carry out the call or use approved hands free equipment. A mobile phone can be used in a situation where you need to call the emergency services only.

Cabline UK adopts a zero tolerance approach to drivers not adhering to our mobile phone policy and is viewed as gross misconduct.

Fit for work

It is the responsibility of all taxi drivers to ensure they are fit for duty. Driving whilst fatigued is completely unacceptable at all times.

Drivers should ensure that:

They have had plenty of rest before commencing work

  • During shifts, stop for frequent breaks. Get out of the vehicle periodically between jobs and move around;
  • Learn to recognize the signs of driver fatigue: drowsiness, difficulty focusing, blinking more than normal, yawning, heavy eyelids, and rubbing your eyes. If you have any of these symptoms or signs, do not continue driving under any circumstances.
  • They have had suitable rest prior to carrying out a duty on behalf of Cabline UK.

Safe Driving

Speeding is not tolerated under any circumstance and drivers must ensure they stick to the speed limits at all times, failure to do so will result in drivers being removed from carrying out any work for Cabline UK.

Adopt a safe attitude to your journey and be calm and courteous to your passenger and other road users. Think COAST

 Concentration – Don’t become distracted. Focus on the primary task at hand, namely driving.

Observation – Pay close attention to other vehicles and changes in their movement.

Anticipation – Anticipate the good and bad intentions of other road users to avoid accidents.

Space – Keep your distance – remember the 2 second rule.

Time – Plan journeys, allowing enough time to arrive safely without the need to drive hard.

Routes / Directions

All drivers should be aware of the route and pick up instructions PRIOR to commencing any journey for Cabline UK. If you are unsure, please either contact your base or the Cabline UK control centre for clarification. If the passenger requests any changes to the booked journeys, this must be verified with the Cabline UK control first.

Seat Belts

The driver of the vehicle is responsible for taking reasonable steps to ensure that all your passengers are aware of the need to wear a seatbelt.

Luggage / Lost Property

Please assist and offer passengers help with the loading of luggage items if required and please report any lost property to your base AND the Cabline UK Control Centre.

Accidents or incidents

If you are involved in an accident whilst on or going to a Cabline UK job call our control room immediately on 01159 225 229. Ensure your passengers are safe, and if you need assistance calling emergency services etc, the Cabline UK control centre can assist.

We will require the following information, should an accident of any kind occur whilst transporting our passengers:

  • Taxi Operator details, with name and contact number of the driver.
  • Registration number of the vehicle
  • Job reference
  • Exact Location
  • Name and contact details of passengers

After sharing the above information you must then take direction from our control team on what to do next.
