1.4 Mobile Phone Use Policy
Section A
Using a phone whilst driving or whilst your engine is started is ILLEGAL and can result in 6 points on your licence and £200 fine. This will most likely lead to your licensing authority revoking your Private Hire Badge. 247 Cars does not permit any mobile device usage even if its hands free whilst your vehicle is moving or if your engine is started with or without passengers.
What Can Happen
- Driver is filmed whilst using phone.
- Driver setting Sat Nav after pulling off
- Driver talking in foreign language with passengers on board
- Driver texting and driving
- Driver watching video whilst driving
Section B
What Not To Do
- Use any mobile device for any reason whilst vehicle is in motion or engine is started
- Talk on phone with passengers on board even if it’s hands free.
- Any other act of being distracted whilst driving.
Section C
What We Will Do
We will conduct a transparent investigation:
- Listen to your side of story
- Assess your level of remorse
- Check your past record
Section D
The Sanctions
A Fine of between £20.00 minimum to a maximum of £100 for every offence.
- Warning
- Dismissal
Anything considered Gross Misconduct could result in Summary Dismissal, in such circumstances we reserve the right to use Section D Item 3 in its own right.
A second mobile phone offence will result in summary dismissal in all circumstances. Only one warning will be issued and a fine will be mandatory in all cases.
